Terms of Service

Terms and conditions for using our music education services

Agreement to Terms

By enrolling in lessons or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

Enrolment and Payment

Lesson Fees

  • Fees are charged monthly via direct debit
  • Payment is due at the beginning of each month
  • Fees are non-refundable except as required by law
  • We reserve the right to adjust fees with reasonable notice

Enrolment Period

  • Lessons follow the Victorian school term calendar
  • Minimum commitment is one school term
  • Notice of withdrawal must be provided in writing

Attendance and Cancellations

Student Absences

  • Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons
  • Notice of absence should be provided as early as possible
  • Make-up lessons may be offered at teacher's discretion
  • Fees are not refunded for student absences

Teacher Absences

  • We will provide reasonable notice of teacher absences
  • A substitute teacher may be provided, or lessons will be rescheduled
  • Credits will be issued if lessons cannot be rescheduled

Public Holidays

No lessons are held on public holidays. Monthly fees account for the typical number of lessons per year.

Student Conduct

Students are expected to:

  • Arrive on time for lessons
  • Bring required materials and instruments
  • Practice regularly between lessons
  • Treat teachers, staff, and facilities with respect
  • Follow all safety guidelines and instructions

We reserve the right to terminate enrolment for persistent misconduct or failure to meet these expectations.

Instruments and Materials

  • Students are responsible for providing their own instruments (unless otherwise arranged)
  • Instruments should be properly maintained and in good working condition
  • Students are responsible for any damage to our facilities or equipment
  • We are not liable for damage to or loss of student instruments or belongings

Intellectual Property

All teaching materials, methods, and content provided by Red Note Music remain our intellectual property. Students may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit these materials without written permission.

Liability

While we take reasonable care to ensure a safe learning environment:

  • We are not liable for injuries sustained during lessons except where caused by our negligence
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for students before and after lessons
  • Students participate in lessons at their own risk
  • We maintain appropriate insurance coverage

Privacy

We collect and use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to such collection and use.

Termination

Either party may terminate the enrolment by providing written notice:

  • Students must provide one month's notice to withdraw
  • We reserve the right to terminate enrolment for non-payment or breach of these terms
  • No refunds will be issued for early termination except as required by law

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be communicated to enrolled students, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
